Award Season Style Recap: Golden Globes

Hello Everyone!

First of all, welcome to Creatively Dressed, a blog all about style personality. To kick off the first post I thought it would be nice to look back on the award season that is now in full swing. Just, in case you don’t follow the Award Season, the Golden Globes just aired on January 12th and the SAG awards just followed on Jan 18th. Both, award shows were filled with tears, major wins and notable acceptance speeches. But, that’s not what you to came to Creatively Dressed for right?

The post below is starting with the Red Carpet fashion the Golden Globe Awards, from the best to the worst.

Golden Globe Best Dressed:

1. Lupita Nyong’o in Ralph Lauren- Lupita is my pick for the best dressed woman of the night because her whole look was just effortlessly beautiful. She really set an example of how a simple red dress can turn heads on the red carpet.  The color and fit are both flattering on Lupita and she just genuinely looks like a million bucks.

2. Kaley Cuoco in Rani Zakhem- Kaley looks amazing in this elegantly printed ball gown. The blush gown is accented in floral water prints that somehow work without making Cuoco look like a fairy princess.

3. Kerry Washington in Balenciaga- Well first of all, any dress that allows a pregnant woman to look this amazing has to be a winner. Kerry looks absolutely stunning in this floor length white gown that perfectly flattered her baby bump.
4. Lily Rabe in George Holbelka- This dress is just is just all around amazing, but what really sets it apart from the crowd is imagery it portrays. From a distance the sparkle and nude mixed in with the black tulle, resemble a night sky. The dress is also very flattering and it looks like it would look amazing on anyone.

Golden Globe Worst Dressed:

1. Ariel Winter in Mikael D. - When shopping for a dress every girl knows that just because a dress looks nice on the rack doesn’t mean it will look nice on you. It is quite evident by the fit of this dress that that rule wasn’t taken into account during the selection process. The dress itself is very simple but pretty, just not at all flattering on Ariel.
2. Edie Falco in Lanvin- This dress on Edie broke several rules.  The most important rule of course being the fitting rule. Again, if the dress does not flatter your figure it shouldn’t be worn.
3. Tina Fey in Carolina Herrera- While this dress fits Tina perfectly; the print takes away from that. The dress would have been more flattering in a solid color.
4. Paula Patton in Stephanie Rolland- This dress is a shining example that less is more.  This gown is too extreme on Paula’s slender frame and taking away from her beauty.  Maybe lose a ruffle or four?

The 8 choices above are just a few of looks seen on the Golden Globe Red Carpet; you can see all of the red carpet looks by searching the web. Although, there had to be a worst dressed portion of the list. I can honestly say that 2014 was a good year for Golden Globe fashion and I can’t wait to see what the rest of the Award season has in store. What did you think about the Golden Globes? Which red carpet do you enjoy watching the most?
